2022 Area 61 Convention is returning, in person, to Newport, RI!!! The Convention will be held at the Marriott Newport in February, 2022. The theme of the Convention is ‘Together Again’.
The Convention Committee needs your help in filling the many open positions critical to having a successful event! Open positions include Marathon Meetings Chair, Hospitality Chair, Greeters Chair, Entertainment Chair, Accessibility/Translation Chair and more.

The Corrections Committee is looking for volunteers to bring AA’s message of hope and recovery to those who are incarcerated. Rhode Island’s prisons have not had in-person meetings since early 2020, and with the easing of pandemic restrictions, the time is now to fill out the application, so we can be ready when in-person meetings resume.
The Men’s & Women’s Area 61 ACI Coordinators will help with scheduling during our filling of meetings so they can all get covered. We want the message of AA to be consistent and we don’t want our volunteers over extended doing this service. Please join us and thank you for your service.
Even if you can’t join us, you can still help by making this announcement at all of the meetings you are currently attending. Spread the Word!
The Convention Committee has announced that next year’s Rhode Island State Convention will be a LIVE event! The Committee has also announced that meetings to plan the event will be LIVE! Join in the fun and bring a friend!

The Convention Committee, through the generosity of the Area 61 membership, has made available Convention Scholarships to the 2021 Area 61 Virtual Convention via a lottery system. A Virtual Convention Scholarship is a Registration fee paid to the Registrar in the name of a scholarship recipient or granted to an applicant out of the scholarship funds that give that recipient total access to all meetings for the entire weekend. These scholarships are intended for those individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend the Convention.
If you are are sponsoring someone who qualifies or know someone who qualifies please make them aware of this opportunity.
Individuals who wish to apply for a scholarship may do so by filling out the form below. Those who have questions or who wish to apply themselves should email their name, email address and home group(if you have one) to conventionscholarships@
