Convention Committee

The Convention Committee, through the generosity of the Area 61 membership, is making available a limited number of Convention Scholarships to the 2022 Area 61 Convention via a lottery system.  A Convention Scholarship is a Registration fee paid to the Registrar in the name of a scholarship recipient or granted to an applicant out of the scholarship funds that give that recipient total access to all meetings for the entire weekend.  These scholarships are intended for those individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend the Convention.

Individuals who wish to apply for a scholarship may do so by filling out the form below. Those who have questions or who wish to apply themselves should email their name, email address and home group(if you have one) to conventionscholarships@aainri.com.

The Convention Committee is seeking members to participate in The Play, a long standing tradition at the Area 61 Annual Convention which will be held in February of 2022.  Planning is already underway! The Committee seeks actors, stage hands or just anyone who wants to have fun and help! If you want to be a STAR or just lend a HELPING HAND come to the next Convention Committee meeting on August 4th. The Committee meets in a Hybrid format and details can be found on the Area Calendar. 2022 Area 61 Convention is returning, in person, to Newport, RI!!! The Convention will be held at the Marriott Newport in February, 2022. The theme of the Convention is ‘Together Again’.

The Convention Committee needs your help in filling the many open positions critical to having a successful event! Open positions include Marathon Meetings Chair, Hospitality Chair, Greeters Chair, Entertainment Chair, Accessibility/Translation Chair and more.
