The phone volunteer:

Answers questions about Alcoholics Anonymous
Provides names and contact information for all online meetings in Rhode Island (either via Zoom or conference calls)
Is happy to speak to you about your problems with alcohol
Arranges for an AA volunteer to call you if you need a 12-step call
Arranges for a trustee to contact you if you need to purchase literature or medallions from the Intergroup Office (which is currently closed to the public due to COVID 19)

Southern Rhode Island Intergroup Office Closed

Below is a communication received from Southern Rhode Island Intergroup:

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Southern Rhode Island Intergroup offices will close beginning at 8PM on Friday, April 3rd, due to the current restrictions on meeting sizes, non-essential business closures, and other methods to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Rhode Island.

In order to support our AA community, access to literature and other materials will be available on an appointment basis. Simply call Intergroup (401-739-8777) to arrange a convenient time.

The phones are going to be open 24/7 via call forwarding. If you have time and are willing to help, please call and we’ll get you on the calendar.

Meetings that are approved can use Intergroup’s Zoom meeting space to meet during their regularly scheduled times. The Beginner’s Meeting will be held at its regularly scheduled time on Tuesdays starting at 7PM (detailed information below).

As soon as Rhode Island is given a clean bill of health and we are not jeopardizing anyone’s health by gathering, we will reopen for regular business, start planning some great activities, and can get back to normal.
